Shopping From Home

Occasionally, we will receive a phone call from a potential client who wants to freshen up a tired looking room.    I'm always amazed how people get so use to looking at their spaces and can't imagine  them looking any differently.  Simple changes can totally transform any room.  Unlike a lot of other designer's, at Hearthstone,  we believe that a room should reflect our clients taste not ours.  Very rarely do we start from scratch unless that is what our client request.  You see, most individuals have wonderful things to work with,  they just have them placed in the wrong spot or they have chosen a color that does not flatter their possessions.  Our advise is to shop at home first.  Take an inventory of what you have to work with and draw a floor plan for your space.  See if your furniture can be placed in another spot in your room or possibly another spot in the home.  Who says that a side board has to remain in the dinning room?  Change can be exhilarating.  Ask yourself what other color or colors can I incorporate in this space?  Take a good look at your rugs for color inspiration.  If you don't have a rug in the room look at the fabrics that you are using in your space.  This is how you find the perfect color choice.  If you are one that can't visualize change called in a professional designer for help.  A couple of hours spent on a interior designer can make a huge difference.
Take a look at our example.  A couple of gallons of paint along with the labor to paint this room is all we spent in here.  Our client had everything else.  We eliminated a few things from the buffet because less is more.  She had too many mirrors in this space so we hung her portrait over one of the mirrors to bring in color and texture to our space.  We found two chairs upstairs that we used as our  host and hostess chairs.  The dining room was a good size so the leaves needed to be placed in the table or it would look too small for the room.  Next we placed all of the chairs around the table.  Now that our furniture was placed and our colors were chosen the accessorising could begin.  We traded out several accessories in this room with items found in other areas of the home to complete our project.
So you see redecorating a room doesn't have to be expensive if you shop from home first.
